He’s been climbing since 1997. Together with his family, he lives in a Mongolian yurt exploring Catalonian cliffs. Among his achievements there is a variety of grades, among others: tens of onsighted routes at 8a/a+, 100x8b/b+, 15x8c/one of which opened by him, 2x 8c+. He regularily climbs in the mountains as well.
He got infected with the virus of climbing over 20 years ago and, step by step, his whole life got efficiently reorganized for climbing. And so, from pure craze, climbing became his way of life. He moved to Cornudella de Montsant in Catalonia and, for over 8 years, he’s been exploring the neighboring rock-climbing areas. Together with his family, he lives on the outskirts of the village in a Mongolian yurt where they run a small, atmospheric base in which, apart from a place to sleep, they offer yoga classes (Ula is a certified instructor), vegetarian food, and individual or group local climbing tours. Maciek Tarnawski made a short documentary about their life, which made a great impact not only among climbers. The film also received the award of distinction during the Krakow Mountain Festival in 2014. As much as life lets him, he travels in his van in search of new goals. For many years (until 2007), he participated in the Polish Cup and Polish Championships regularly reaching the finals. He also happened to take part in the World Championships and a couple of World Cups. In 2006, he won the Polish Cup and gradually became more interested in rock climbing at the expense of competitions until finally, he gave up his interest in competitions altogether. He co-created and, for over 5 years, worked at the Transformator climbing gym.
